Systems Safety Engineer 

      

Responsibilities:

•        Conduct safety assessments and evaluations of Naval systems, equipment, and                     procedures to identify potential hazards and risks.

•        Develop safety plans, protocols, and procedures in compliance with Naval regulations             and industry standards.

•        Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to integrate safety features into the             design and development of Naval systems.

•        Conduct safety audits and inspections of Naval facilities, vessels, and equipment to               ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

•        Investigate incidents and accidents involving Naval operations, analyzing root causes             and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•        Provide safety training and guidance to Naval personnel on safety protocols,                           procedures, and best practices.

•        Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to Naval                   safety engineering.

 

Requirements:

•       Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related military experience.

•       Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

•       Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

•       Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance as required.

 

Preferred:

•       Experience in Naval safety engineering or a related field, preferably in a military or                  maritime environment.

•        Strong understanding of Naval systems, equipment, and operations.

•        Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and protocols relevant to Naval operations.

Senior System Safety Engineer 

 

Responsibilities:

•      Use established system engineering practices, with a focus on safety considerations, for          the development, testing, fielding, and lifecycle support of DoD weapons systems

•      Develop safety products to inform engineering leadership and formulate strategies for              risk assessment and remediation.

•      Analyze alternatives and establish requirements early in system conceptualization.

•      Translate complex technical data into understandable and actionable recommendations          to senior managers and authority’s boards.

•      Develop safety plans, protocols, and procedures in compliance with Naval regulations              and industry standards.

•       Conduct safety assessments and evaluations of Naval systems, equipment to identify             potential hazards and mitigate risks.

•      Collaborate with engineering, software developers and technical teams to integrate                  safety features into the design and development of Naval systems.

•       Investigate incidents and accidents involving Naval operations, analyzing root causes             and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•       Provide safety training and guidance to Naval personnel on safety protocols,                           procedures, and best practices.

•       Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to Naval safety           engineering.

 

Requirements:

•      Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Scientific, Business or technical discipline, or related           military experience (E6 or higher).

•      Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

•      Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

•      Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance as required.

•      Seven (8) years of professional or operational experience in systems engineering for             DoD weapon system programs.

•      Two (5) years of qualified experience as a Senior System Safety Engineer in DoD                    system engineering processes in performing tasks focused on the development of                  system safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking resolutions of safety              anomalies.

•      Demonstrated experience in coordinating, developing, and executing, of comprehensive          technical data packages, Safety Assessment Reports, Preliminary Hazard List,                        Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis,                Operating and Support Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Assessment, System                          Requirement Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects                    Analysis.

•      Demonstrated experience in the development and coordination of presentations; to                  support the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board and its Technical Panels,          Laser Safety Review Board, and the Department of Defense and the Department of                Navy Insensitive Munitions Reviews.

 

Preferred:

•      Experience in Naval safety engineering or a related field, preferably in a military or                 maritime environment.

•       Strong understanding of Naval systems, equipment, and operations.

•       Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and protocols relevant to Naval operations.

Responsibilities:

Ability to work independently and within an Integrated Product Team to assess, analyze, document, and develop testing procedures.

Develop safety products to inform engineering leadership and formulate strategies for risk assessment and mitigation.

 

Requirements:

•       Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related military experience.

•       Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

•       Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

•       Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance as required.

•       Two (2) years of qualified experience in at least one of the following disciplines:

•       Systems and/or ordnance safety,

•       Test & Evaluation,

•       Human Systems Integration,

•       Model based systems engineering (MBSE),

•       General Combat System engineering,

•       Warfare/combat system analysis,

•       General safety practices (NAVOSH; NEPA; HERO / HERP / HERF)
